We celebrate the life of Iota Phi Theta's ® Eternal Sweet Heart Ms Audrey Brooks born May 23rd 1921...

History

Iota Sweethearts

The Iota Sweethearts are a recognized, respected and honored tradition of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and have a long history of affiliation with Iota. This history harkens back to the days of the fraternity' founding and the circumstances of the day.

During the founding of the nation's fifth largest predominately African-American fraternity, Iota had an ally in a woman named Ms. Audrey Brooks. Ms. Brooks was a member of the Morgan State University staff and in this capacity, she played a crucial "behind the scenes" role for the Fraternity.

The spirit and dedication of Ms. Brooks lives today through the Iota Phi Theta Sweetheart Organization and with good reason.

As Iota Phi Theta went through their early years, its Brotherhood could always count on the support of their Sweetheart organization.

They serve as hostesses for national meetings and perform as support teams at step shows, amongst other things. Today, Iota Sweethearts (many of whom are wives of Iota Men) continue to support the organization.

Good Afternoon –

I wanted to make you aware of a tremendous partnership between DHS and St. John’s University.  The Advantage Academy was established in 2009 to provide formerly homeless or at-risk individuals the opportunity to attain housing stability through education and employment. Through the Academy, eligible students have the opportunity to obtain an Associate Degree in Business Administration from the College of Professional Studies at no cost. Guided by the program themes of academic, professional and personal development, the program not only offers a two-year degree, but provides students with the resources to support career readiness and personal growth.

I’m attaching the application if you would like to recruit your clients for the program.   Applicants must submit the Advantage Academy application, application for admission (St. John’s University Application), and complete their FAFSA on or before May 30, 2014.
